Other "Men of Praise" groups

Having the phrase "Men of Praise" in your choir or group name can cause much confusion when people are doing web searches for a song by a group of that name. Depending on where your home page comes up in the search engine heirarchy means you can end up getting all kinds of requests for songs that have never been recorded by your choir or group. As with any song, if you don't see the song title on the Recordings page, we haven't recorded it.

The song The Weaver is a case in point and has been the focus of interest recently. We have been receiving requests, both by email and phone calls, to buy our CD with this song. People hear it on the radio, usually on a syndicated program on Christian radio stations in the United States and the announced group is called Men of Praise. People find it very moving, do a web search for Men of Praise and find our site, but can't find this song on any of our CDs.

So far three different Men of Praise groups have been identified:

• Men of Praise Quartet, in or around Durham, North Carolina
• Men of Praise Houston, a small group of 9 men, in Houston, Texas
• Men of Praise Quartet, location unknown.

The third Men Of Praise group listed above (also known as RBC Men of Praise, from Radio Bible Class ministries) is the group in question. Very little information is available about them and they have no direct web site. They appear to be affiliated with RBC Ministries which distributes their CDs through Discovery House Music. Their first CD called It Is Well With My Soul is from 1992, it contains the sought-after song The Weaver, but is no longer available (out of print). The second one called Until Then is from 2004 and is still readily available from Discovery House (and others). Discovery House or RBC Ministries might be persuaded to republish the original CD if they see enough demand for it. So start sending your requests to them by phone or email if you want this CD for yourself! Our choir can't be the only Men of Praise group receiving requests for this song.
